This classic dish is often served at baby lū’au’s, parties, and everyday get togethers. It’s a colorful blend of crisp veggies and salty salmon. The ultimate Hawaiian pupu (side dish).

Any Hawaiian plate isn’t complete without a scoop of lomi lomi salmon on the side. Your classic Hawaiian plate can contain kālua pig, laulau, lū’au stew, chicken long rice, poi, mac salad, and a scoop or two of sticky white rice. A little bit of everything and the best plate lunch around.

You can keep this dish in the refrigerator for 3-4 days or place in a zip top bag and freeze it for up to 6 months.

How to defrost?

If you have stored this in your freezer I suggest bringing it out the day before and defrosting in the refrigerator. The other option is to leave out a room temperature for a few hours or run it under cool water while still in the freezer bag.

Add a few ice cubes to the mixture and place in the fridge to stay cool. The salmon can be quite salty, so the ice cubes will help dilute it slightly as it melts.
